Physicall the Gyroscope measures the rotational velocity on three axis. By integra-tion the orientation change since the last update can be calculated. Consequently the Gyroscope can´t provide absolute orientation, but is able to propagate the orientation once it is initialized.
Characteristics
• Provides orientation in world coordinates once it is initialized by another orientation estimation system (e.g. AR-Marker or Compass) • The orientation can be propagated accurately, characterized by a growing er-ror of 0.05° per second. • Very low standard deviation. • The orientation is updated with roughly 250Hz. • Very fast and responsive. • Requires a Gyroscope sensor.
